10 Things Ruining Video Games
2. Publishers are Afraid To Take Risks
Remastered Editions are console generation’s answers to exclusives. Most of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One’s top ranked games are remasters of old-gen classics with one exclusive in PS4 pocket and none in Xbox One’s.
And why should Sony and Microsoft change that? The best video games of last generation are still excellent, looks stunning and beautiful with minor tweaks. Why not just resell these games as Definitive, Ultimate or All-DLC included editions. It is safe, and guaranteed to make money but unfortunately this thing is killing creativity in AAA games.
There is not only huge shortage on IPs on both big consoles but also a lack of new and creative ideas coming from the other big and famous publishers we used to look up to the most. Konami has all but confirmed that they don’t care about the gaming industry anymore, while EA, Capcom and to some extent UBIsoft are just sticking to what they know best, destroying franchises like SimCity and Resident Evil.
The reluctance of best publishers in offering us truly new, creative and different experiences should take its toll, but ultimately if we keep buying this rinse-and-repeat franchises and remasters editions, then this easy money movement will only continue. And this brings us to our final point….
